Bodies, debris from missing AirAsia plane pulled from sea off Indonesia
Reuters

Indonesian rescuers searching for a missing AirAsia plane carrying 162 people pulled bodies and wreckage from the sea off the coast of Borneo on Tuesday as relatives of those on board broke down in tears on hearing the news.

+ The Indonesian navy said 40 bodies had been recovered as dusk fell.

Tacklebox Provides Crowd-Sourced Chat Assistance

The folks at Tacklebox understand how difficult it can be to communicate with potential dates and have come up with an app that crowd-sources responses to those tricky early-days chats.

The premise is simple: upon login, users are brought to a feed of "baits." Each bait consists of a person's last response and the context of the situation. Other users can then comment with feedback or potential responses. In order to post a bait, users must also earn points from commenting and earning upvotes, thus enabling monetization potential, gamification, as well as automatic curation (karmic credit economy). Baits are then archived by the author whenever she/he sees fit, and thus unavailable to public viewing except by those who commented, saved, or wrote the prompt. This core set of features allows for passive browsing, shareability, high engagement (push notification of comment), dismissal of the 1% rule, and rapid iteration/adoption.

This is brilliant. A company actually created a service to help people be better daters that goes beyond the usual dating site tips, all of which were written in 2002 and never updated. Color me impressed.

A passenger airliner with 162 aboard has gone missing

AsiaAir Flight QZ8501, a passenger jet with 162 people aboard, lost contact with air traffic control at 7:24 a.m. local time Sunday after taking off from Surabaya, Indonesia, en route to Singapore.

+ Indonesia Transport Ministry official Hadi Mustofa told Reuters the plane "had asked for an unusual route" before it lost contact when it was believed to be over the Java Sea, between the Kalimantan and Java islands. The aircraft had reportedly requested a route deviation because of rough weather before communication was lost.

+ Indonesia and Singapore briefly paused search and rescue operations for the evening, but efforts will begin again Monday morning.

Pope Francis wants to rally 1.2 billion Catholics to fight climate change

The Guardian reports that Pope Francis has a hefty New Year's resolution: Organize a massive push by the Catholic Church to fight climate change.

The pontiff will apparently "issue a lengthy message on the subject to the world's 1.2 billion Catholics, give an address to the U.N. General Assembly and call a summit of the world's main religions" in an effort to unify the religious community against climate change.

+ Pontifical Academy of Sciences chancellor Bishop Marcelo Sorondo told the Guardian that the pope wants to influence the course of the 2015 U.N. climate meeting in Paris, the culmination of 20 years of emissions negotiations.

The war in Afghanistan is officially over

After 13 years of conflict, the United States and NATO officially ended their war in Afghanistan on Sunday by way of a symbolic ceremony at their joint military headquarters in Kabul.

+ The Associated Press reports that Gen. John Campbell, commander of the U.S.-led International Security Assistance Force, rolled up the white and green ISAF flag and put in its place the new flag for the upcoming mission, called Resolute Support.

+ The new mission will focus on a supporting role led by 13,500 troops — roughly 11,000 of which will be American — to begin Jan. 1, 2015, and "serve as the bedrock of an enduring partnership" between NATO and Afghanistan.

+ Resolute Support will be tasked with training and supporting Afghanistan's military as the country pushes to make the final transition out of the war that's occupied the country for the past 13 years.

She's different. The thought of spending time with her doesn't feel like an obligation like it has with many other girls because she's different. You can't put your finger on it, but you just know that's the case.

If you had to make a list of reasons, you would need many sheets of paper, but you still can't put your finger on it. If the girl in question has reached this place in your mind, then she might not just be girlfriend material, she might be getting a ring from you one day. But first things first. Seal this deal, and give it the time it needs to be the real thing, baby.

The Bottom Line:

The bottom line with determining whether she is girlfriend material is simply a matter of weighing the pros and the cons. If you can say more good things about her than bad, or can't even find any bad things to say at all, then she is probably in good shape to be your girlfriend.

Real girlfriend material types do not throw themselves at you waiting to be your next main squeeze. They do everything in their power to show you by doing that they are, in fact, the girlfriend of your dreams.
